Seafood Legacy Co., Ltd., and Qingdao Marine Conservation Society (QMCS), a Chinese NGO dedicated to conserving marine ecosystems and advancing sustainable fisheries, and aquaculture, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on October 17th, 2025. The MOU marks the beginning of their collaboration to establish a platform for building responsible seafood supply chains in East Asia.

Through this MOU, Seafood Legacy and QMCS will jointly establish a new platform in East Asia with the following objectives:

  • Strengthening traceability, transparency, and accountability across the entire supply chain.
  • Promoting environmentally sustainable and socially responsible fisheries and aquaculture.
  • Supporting fair and sustainable livelihoods for producers and workers.
  • Contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) and post-SDGs through the development of a responsible seafood market originating from East Asia.

The partnership will be structured around three pillars:

  • Co-Design: Developing the concept, governance structure, and roadmap for the East Asia Platform, in consultation with key global champions such as Conservation Alliance of Seafood Solutions and leading organizations from the region.
  • Co-Development: Creating practical solutions to issues such as overfishing, IUU fishing, irresponsible aquaculture, and social inequity in East Asia’s seafood value chains.
  • Co-Organization: Enhancing engagement in sustainable seafood production and consumption, traceability, and supply chain collaboration through dialogues and workshops.
