Seafood Legacy Strengthens Global Partnerships to Accelerate Responsible Seafood Supply Chains in East Asia

May 21, 2026

Seafood Legacy has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the U.S.-based NGO FishWise to strengthen transparency and traceability, advance human rights due diligence, and enhance cross-regional industry collaboration.

As the seafood industry faces growing demands for traceability and due diligence, the renewed MoU aims to turn long-standing commitments into consistent, on-the-ground action throughout seafood supply chains.

Jenny Barker, Executive Director of FishWise, stated:
“The future of sustainable seafood depends on whether the industry can deliver real accountability at scale. By aligning across regions and partners, we are helping expand transparency and human rights protections across global supply chains to ensure durable progress.”

Seafood Legacy CEO and Founder Wakao commented:
“Our collaboration with FishWise marks an important step toward making sustainable seafood mainstream in Japan and across Asia. Moving forward, we will focus on strengthening accountability, deepening stakeholder collaboration, and scaling global best practices across the region to turn this vision into concrete action.”

We will strengthen our collaboration with FishWise to jointly advance stronger traceability and promote human rights due diligence across East Asia.
